In case not everyone here knows:
Posting of any URLs of Apple service manuals is strictly forbidden on
all LEM lists -- don't do it!!
Because posting and distrubuting copyrighted works without the
permission of the copyright holder is illegal. Apple vigilantly
pursues such violations. Lawsuits and elimination of websites
results.
Clear enough?
That's a surprise. If Apple distributes these things over their web
site, why on Earth would they object to someone telling someone else
that they do it, and give the relevant reference? I found and downloaded
the 190 manual on my own, but it would have been nice to have had it
handy without threading through all those Apple search screens.
Now, distributing the document itself is another matter entirely, of
course. But the URL?? That's already public, if possibly not widely
known.
OK, some clarification here:
If Apple is publicly distributing a manual to all comers on its website,
that URL is OK to mention.
Generally you can get user manuals, but not service manuals, this way. The
service manuals are mostly only available to service techs and require
usernames and passwords to access.
Some people have taken these manuals which are copyrighted and not publicly
available, and illegally posted them on their own websites (typically a
short lived enterprise, since they get closed down fairly quickly). Posting
URLs of this type is not allowed on LEM lists.
