You could always run the programs and see how much memory each is using. I think it's a case of YMMV. (The heavy users here can advise you better than I can--I ask for more help here than I've given. :) )

On my 5300 and 520c I've been a big fan of RamDoubler--it does of good job of using unused memory blocks and making the PB think it's got a lot more memory than it physically does. It only does disk writing in extreme cases, if my reading of the manual is correct.
