My PowerBook has System 7.5.5 installed. Yesterday I used the 7.5.3
custom uninstall to remove Apple CD Audio Player.
Stop that. Just drag components out of the System Folder. No need
to use uninstallers.
exit the installer when it was done, and
it sat for a few minutes, and then I got a system error (type 25,
whatever that is). I clicked restart, and then the computer restarted.
Now whenever I start it up I get the happy Mac for less than a second,
the screen blinks, and then I get the disk with an ? on it. Why does
it find System Software at first and then it can't?
Boot blocks are corrupted.
Zap the PRAM. (hold down cmd-opt-P-R while booting).
Then re-bless the System Folder. (open the folder by double-clicking
on it whlie holding down the option key. then immediately close it).
Then reselect the boot drive from the control panel.
