I opened it and checked for arcing and sure enough, the connecter is
coming loose. If I wiggle it I can see arcing. Now that I know what's
wrong with it I'm not as afraid to use it. Thanks!

You should fix it, rather than keep on using it that way. Power supplies
generally tolerate transients poorly, and you might eventually damage either
the brick, or the internal regulators in your 'book. A little soldering will
fix that right up, and prevent possible future damage.
