you should make it a rule NOT to open attachments unless you know
who they're from and why it was sent to you....
the only way to introduce an email virus into your computer is to open
an attachment.
Although this applies mostly to windows machines, as most virii are windows
based, it's a good habit to follow.
As regards the email...it sounds more like a misdirected email...ie meant
for someone else...
in this case it's not spam...it's calimari
