Further to the thread below, I've just heard from a friend who uses
Windows with Outlook Express about the latest virus, and it sounds very
much like the weird email and attachment Laurence received.
In that case, after opening the attachment and wondering how and why
it was sent him, within 24 hrs he received literally hundreds of emails
of a spam like nature.
I appears that this virus infects email files, and, as he was on cable,
propogates itself and sends out email to any site on the out list.
Laurence may have dodged a bullet by using a Mac.
The best defence against spam, btw, is to delete upon receipt.
Don't answer to be taken off the list...it only encourages them.
