Just to put in my 2 cents, my recommendation is a Yahoo! account. It allows
accessing email on the Web or in a standard POP-enabled email program. I've
only rarely had trouble with the account, and it's usually only been for an
hour or less when I have. Just recommendations. Hotmail is similar, but
then you're supporting the mighty Microsoft (which I attempt to avoid when
presented with an equal or better alternative) and I've also heard that
Hotmail users get a lot of junk mail.
