Curioser and curioser...
GURU, Newertech's (RIP) guide to ram upgrading doesn't mention the same
restriction against EDO ram for the 8200 as it does for the 7200 although
the two
are supposed to have identical MB's

Smart idea...the 800/8100/8200/8500 case design is a nightmare for ram
upgrading
compared to the 7200/7500 which is a dream.
(COMPLETE disassembly of the case v pull the case top and flip the flaps)

Try it out...I once installed a 1M cache dimm from my PCP into a Mac 7500...no
go...put it back in the PCP and it worked perfectly...which led me to find
out why.
OTOH
a 1MB cache dimm from my PTP DID work...unfortunately, the case
wouldn't close because the PTP used a workgroup server cache dimm which was
too tall for
the 7500 case...

Keep an eye on eBay...I picked one up (PowerComputing
branded) for $19.95 (new)

An onboard cache dimm is useless with a G3 card installed as the G3's use
a cache module attached to the card itself (aka 'backside cache).
