Hmm. Everything here shows 512X384, 60Hz
for the 'lil wonder. Works fine when used on
the on board video. It is better tonight, but not
100% healthy. When I turned it on the colors
were vibrant and everything tack-sharp. Just
like new. Less than 30 mins later the color is
a bit washed out again and such. Upon
Restart it goes blank unless I turn it off, then
on. Writing's on the wall.

>which is the other monitor that won't display
>with the ATI PCI card?

Neither will, but the other monitor is a 14"
AudioVision, normally also great (except for
intermittant color shift when used for a few
hours). Right now it's very happy running from
the Thunder 30/1152.

>also good is the Apple 13" Trinitron

One of my favs too.

So in my bravery tonight I re-enabled the ATi
Graphics Accelerator for 2D and ATi Driver
Update. All systems "go" and we now have 2D
accell on the mobo's vid once more. The
remainng two extensions, ATi Video Memory
Manager and ATi 3D Accelerator I'm too
chicken to try.

I can't imagine how they'd hurt anything, but I
thought that about the ATi card and if they did
take out the mobo video the whole computer
would be toast. Well, I do have one more
empty PCI slot not scheduled for use...

Now, somewhere in the mess the CDROM
has stopped. I had success with CDT and
Apple CDROM 5.3.1, both wonderfully
provided by the list. Yes, I've had only one at a
time enabled. My external CD600i has also
gone on vacation.

They each seemed to stop resonding sort of
gradually, and my dirty little secret is that I've
been using in both a mixture of various
pre-recorded CDs and CDRs I've made.

The CDRs usually make the lasers work hard
before the disc will mount, and perhaps I've
damaged both drives? Another day's battle.
Gotta get this thing stable soon!
