>Question: Is 8.1 analogous to 7.5.3 in that it took Apple >until 7.6.1 to work out the System 7 bugs and perhaps >until 8.6 to work out the System 8 bugs? Not in my opinion or experience. 8.5 and later have toys that 8.1 doesn't, just as 7.5-7.6 had toys 7.0/7.1 did not. But 8.1 was different in that it didn't exhibit the growing pains 7.5.3 and 7.5.5 sometimes showed. There was the usual round of "will my old software work", but 8.1 is still great for any older PPC that is either low on RAM or for the user of any PPC who wants a faster machine than 8.5 and later can offer. Having said that, I'd buy some RAM or a faster computer if those prevented me from using 8.5.1 or 8.6 successfully. I'm hooked on some features I can otherwise live without, specifically. -David -- Power Computing is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... 123Inkjets.com <http://lowendmac.com/ad/123inkjets.html> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Power Computing list info: <http://lowendmac.com/power/list.html> Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> List archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/powercomputing%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Macintosh?
