You'll need a small hub...4 ports will do fine...no router ...
check with the lads at the MacMarket or PCGalore...should be under $30
(Larry @ PCGalore will make up cables on the spot if you need them, but
they usually have a bunch kicking around)
as for the 'free' cable install/1 month offer.....there's a price war
going on in Toronto right now between Rogers and Sympatico...could
spread out here...I believe they're up to 3 months free for cable and 6
months free
for ADSL.
OTOH if you do a LOT of websurfing why wait?
