The PowerWave is a great unit, often overlooked because of the focus on the
PowerTowerPro's, it's successor in the PowerComputing lineup.
At the risk of sounding facetious, have you tried it in the B4 slot to see
if it says it's installed in the A1 slot?? If so, then it's probable that
the board labelling is backwards.
It certainly isn't worth fretting about if the computer is non problematic now.
The only reason to be aware of the location of dimms in that motherboard,
as with all the
motherboards based on Apples's 7300~9600 (Nitro/TNT/Tsunami) architecture,
is to take advantage of a slight speed gain when identical size dimms are
'interleaved' by installation in paired slots eg A1-B1, A2-B2, etc.
As for the hodgepodge of sticks that were removed. there's no reason not to
use them if they are
the same speed and refresh rate as the 128 mb dimm recently installed.
Visit http://www.chipmunk.nl/DRAM/ChipManufacturers.htm to get the
specifications on
the dimms from the ic's used on them, and reinstall those that are
identical specification (other than amount of ram)
Cheers...Michael
