MacOS X Little Black Book

The MacOS X Book
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1576106055

I have both of these. They're pretty similar -- a lot of good but
basic information (much of it the same in both books), not much more
than what you can learn by reading help files and poking buttons to
see what they do. That is, if you've been playing with MacOS X for a
while and it makes sense to you, you're going to be disappointed
(although you're still likely to learn a few things); neither one
does more than briefly mention the terminal, the developer tools,
unsupported machines, or anything else beginners are not supposed to
touch.

If you have MacOS X already and are lost (completely or partially), I
recommend the Little Black Book. If you don't have X yet, The Mac OS
X Book is a decent introduction/should-I-buy-this-OS? book. If you
want to understand the guts, neither one is what you're looking for.

I suspect most MacOS X books out now are going to be similar (read:
aimed at beginners, not those who want more details on the messy
parts) and soon outdated. However, some of the books on Amazon's
not-yet-published list (search for "Mac OS X" and scroll down) sound
promising...
