Novice back again. A HUGE thanks to all who responded to my e-mail regarding: How to install OS 8 on"PowerCenter" 150.
To remind you of my problem: I wish to upgrade to OS 8. My computer is: PowerComputing "Power Center" 150- OS 7.5.5 Built in memory: 128MB RAM On Hard Drive 1.3Gb available Processor: 604 140MHz When I inserted my OS 8 CD this message appeared: The hard disk driver on the disk "Power HD" cannot be updated with program because the disk has been formatted with non-apple disk utility. Contact the manufacturer of disk utility to see if you need to update the driver. (Then I had choice of CANCEL or IGNORE WARNING) One of the e-mail responses said, You can probably ignore the warning message... Your best bet is to buy a current version of FWB HDT and update the drive... Another e-mail said: If you can find a 2nd hand copy of "Hard Disk Tool Kit", you can reformat your Hard Disk with it. Then one of you wrote: "The Power Center Pros came with a disk that had OS 8 and a "Lite" ver. of H/D Tool Kit. With your IBM Drive however, I feel you may need the "Full" (Expensive) version OF HD Tool Kit." I can buy a 2nd hand copy of the Power Computing System- OS8 CD. I can buy a 2nd hand copy of CD-ROM ToolKit 2.3.2. Will that OS8 CD work and will I then be able to download 8.1 without difficulty? Is that the ToolKit I need? To sum up the choices I would prefer : 1.Get the 2nd hand CD-ROM ToolKit 2.3.2 and update the drive. 2. Get the 2nd hand Power Center OS8 CD. QUESTION: Will one of those two be a better choice? Thanks ever so much for you patience and time in responding.
