I have a Firewire Direct combo card in my PTP 250 w a Newertech G3 400 upgrade. If I was you, I'd update 9.0 to 9.1 (from apple's site), turn off apple share, and install the USB Adapter card support from apple's web site (version 1.4.1)... then I'd get a copy of the 2 firewire extensions from 9.2.2 (2.8.1 I think) and use those instead of the 9.1 version. that works here... if your firewire still doesn't work reliably, try FWB software, it has a new firewire implementation that works very well on these machines...
