I figured out my Ethernet problem last night. Pretty simple. The Ethernet cable that came with the Zyxel DSL modem was required. I had previously tried to use another Ethernet cable with the Zyxel and it wasn't being recognized. I looked at both cables and they appeared identical. I guess one could be a "null modem" style.
