Good afternoon everyone,
I have a senario that I'm trying to resolve and wonder if anyone here
has any experience in this new idea for me ...
I have had my car vandalized twice in the last year, most recently right
outside my house. Obviously a better alarm system is needed but with
the increase in technology available to thieves etc I'm looking for a
passive response that I can initiate to add at least a degree of
response for later evaluation by law enforcement.
I have concluded that the Orange Micro iBot web cam can provide the kind
of image that I need (640 x 480 Pixels) at up to 30 fps with a lens
capable of focusing from 1 cm to infinity. I'm also sure zi can refit
the camera into a more stable housing and gain a tripod socket. So the
hardware is no problem.
What I need is a utility that would capture one image every 20 - 30
seconds for a period of 5 - 6 hours. The image at 72 ppi is equiv to
approx 990k so for a 6 hour run I would eat up a little less than a GB.
Does anyone here use such a utility or know where I could get one? So
far I've found plenty of small utilities, but none have offered a frame
capture every x seconds that could be programmed in via say prefs.
As always your help is much appreciated.
The iBot is a Firewire device so transferr shouldn't be a problem. I
have a PC 150 with a G3 400 card and an OrangeMicro USB/Firewire card
and 512 mb RAM.

Thanks all,
Aloha

David
