Is anyone using os X with the PCP/180/Sonnet G3/500?
I know Sonnet doesn't support it, but....

Hi,

I am running a PowerComputing PowerCenter Pro 240 with an Acard Ultra
ATA66 PCI card (AEC6260m) OS 8.6. So far I've used 2 drives with it -
they seem to be working pretty well, but they are not in the list of
supported drives. However, I do get 1 odd piece of behavior that I'm
curious if anyone has had any problems with:

If I shut down the machine normally, and then disconnect the it
completely from the power source, it gives me the "This computer was
has crashed or was shut down improperly" (paraphrasing....) message.
If I shut the machine down normally, but leave the power connected, it
reboots fine, without errors.

When I first got the machine, I was having problems with the clock
resetting itself as well, so I replaced the battery, and that went
away. So any ideas on what is changing when power is removed? Do you
think that the error is a sign of possible drive corruption?

I've run both disk first-aid and DiskWarrior on both drives, but the
seem to be working a-okay, but I've got a nagging suspicion that they
might not be, because they're not (apparently) in the list of drives.

Any clues/help/similar? Has anyone gotten this with approved drives?

Thanks,
Jon Bocock

John -

About 4 months ago, I installed the Newer Technologies G3-500 on my PCP
210 - Entire process went "as smooth as silk" and I have have had absolutely
zero problems. I am
still running OS 8.6.1 on the machine.

success or horror stories?

Just to let you know, I have been running OS X on my
Powercenter Pro since Version 2.2b7.

Initial install went without a hitch, though it when I
tried to boot into X it did crash just before the
desktop. I used the throttle feature and it solved the
problem.

I have a Powerlogix 400 (clocked to 480) and "X" runs
well. The latest update, 10.1.5 runs really well. I am
a happy camper to say the least.

Any ways just thought some might be interested.

It sounds more like pram corruption than a HD issue. Did you zap the pram
after youinstalled
the new battery?
Hold down Command -option-P-R keys at startup, and let the machine blink
twice before
releasing those keys.
Remember to reset your mouse speed after doing so.

Cheers...Michael

Hi all,

I did forget one salient item - this does not happen when I use a scsi
drive with all the same data, os, etc. Sorry about the omission.

Jon.
