Help!

I installed QuickTime 6 and with the first movie I opened on Apple's site,
it crashed and locked up the whole system.

So I rebooted and used QuickTime 6's un-installer to uninstall. I then
re-downloaded QuickTime 5 and reinstalled it.

Now QuickTime 5 crashes like crazy! For example, PictureViewer won't even
open standard jpegs - I get the error message:

"Couldn't display "xxxx.jpg" because a suitable decompressor could not be
opened"

These are valid, working jpegs.

I reinstalled - more crashes. Before re-installing again I trashed the
individual QuickTime extensions and the QuickTime Extensions folder, plus
the QuickTime control panel and the QuickTime preferences.

I am using a 604e PowerCenter Pro 210 running 8.6.

Any help GREATLY appreciated!
