Well, yes and no.

The 7.6 CD should boot if you hold the
"command-option-shift-delete" key combination. This
will force the computer to try extra hard to use the
CD-Driver on the 7.6 CD to boot from. It should work.

OS 9 and 7.6 are the only Systems which have universal
CD-ROM drivers. In fact Mac OS 7.6.1 had the universal
CD drivers replaced with one which required CD drives
with the special Apple ROM (in case you are curious,
the specific ROM is to keep Apple's CD driver from
interfering with other CD-Reader's drivers).

A simple work around is to use theDisk Tools floppy to
boot the system while the CD is in the drive. The
floppy has the universal driver if I remember
correctly. When you see the CD installer come up just
proceed with the install. Oh, and a copy of the Disk
Tools floppy is on the 7.6.1 CD, I believe (sorry I
haven't had a chance to look for a 7.6 CD).

I've recently aquired a Powercurve 601/120 and no
software.. i got acopy of system 7.6.1 on cd but cant
seem to install it! The CD says it will boot by
holding the c key down at startup... Was there any
special setup disks that came with the Powercurve
machine?? Any info would be a big help!

Simon
