In my experience, the Predator ain't the burner you want. Long story condensed:
Client w/ Rev A iMac. On USB ports (2) he has: (port 1) mouse and keyboard. (port 2) D-link powered hub to: Epson 740 printer, HP scanner. Works fine. Client sees a deal for the above mentioned burner. Buys and installs it. Hub dies. replaces hub. Mac starts up fine, but no printer or scanner. Reinstalls all appropriate s/w. Still no printer or scanner. Removes burner. Printer and scanner come back. Installs burner, no printer and scanner. Calls me. I repeat his efforts to no avail. Remove printer and scanner. iMac freezes at desktop. Cook another hub. E-mail Iomega. They respond, "We recommend that the burner be the only device connected to the USB ports." Okay, how do we run an iMac with no keyboard and mouse? No response. He returned the burner. As always, YMMV, but I wouldn't take a Predator if they were giving them away.
