Everybody has personal favorites. Being a cheapskate I am always in
favor of using Apple's, free, include drive set up where it works. (Free
is very good. <G>) Personally I have had excellent results using
InTech's Hard Disc Speed Tools. I haven't used FWB since 3.5 so I cannot
comment on how the current version works?

I had no problems with FWB on the original drives on my PTP. As it
"grew" and I switched to OS X, there were issues with drive recognition.
HDST's was less costly than FWB, and it had excellent reports with
XpOSFacto so I went with the HDST. Been a very satisfied user.

Each vendors program is slightly different in the nuances of how they
work, but all are very similar. Detailed, blow by blow, information
would need to know which utility you're using.
