Dr. Mills, I concur about adding RAM. As to OS 9.1, My experience has been just the opposite. On my PCP 240 has a Sonnet 500MHz G3 card. On it OS 9.0.4 was clunky, crashed and had problems with apps like Super Paint. OS 9.1 while slow in loading, aka booting up, has been most trouble free once I built the correct configurations of my sets w/Conflict Catcher v8.0.8. ... I still favor OS 9.1 (IMHO the best Mac OS to Date) over OS x. But then, I've a G3 chip and 512 MB Ram. OS X still needs work.
BTW: Sonnet Upgrade cards for a Power Base 180 are rather cheap at this point.
