All the replies I've read, to date, have given you good information ...
The first Question is

1. What do you want to do with your computer?

Email, Browsing, text scanning Word Processing ? What you've got now
will do it. But, if you want to down load or Scan pages with lots of
graphics or use more intensive applications ...

2. How much spare time do you have to play with it?

The most Bang for the buck?

A. Three 128MB Dimms.

B. Equally good (Prices are so cheap now) is a G3 upgrade card.

C. A Sonnet PCI Card, W/USB and Firewire Ports, give you the access to a
greater variety of newer peripherals.

D. the ATA card (if it's cheap enough) will save you bucks and greatly
increase the selection on Hard drives. (I've a Ton 'O' Bucks tied up in
SCSI drives)

BTW, if you get a slew of USB devices get a POWERED HUB. The "On Sale
for $9.95" jobber from CompUSA won't cut it.

If you up grade your OS ... Going over OS 8.1 require upgrading several
of my application programs. For OS 9.1 practically all of them.

IMHO, I found OS 8.6 to be more stable than 8.1 on my PCP 240. OS 9.1
will slow down booting up and some processing ... BUT .... I just love
all the extra features.
