Hmm, haven't tried this, actually (setting the CD as the startup disk).
FWIW, rebooting and trying command-option-shift-delete(-SCSI#) doesn't 
help, nor does holding "C."  If it's a software issue, it's gotta be 
near the OF level... 

How frequently do ROMs go bad? ;-)

I've never booted into OF on the PTP...  I heard somewhere that PCCs 
were default setup as terminal IO in OpenFirmware, is that true?  I've 
also heard that 6-slot Macs (no built-in video) are all set to default 
to terminal mode also...  But I think I'm getting ahead of myself...

Yes, I always zap the PRAM from a cold boot.  Plus, I've pushed the 
cuda switch countless times.  Maybe I could boot into OF and give it 
the clear NVRAM command (anyone know what that is?  I've done it - way 
back when - on a SPARCStation - granted, not OF - but never in 
OpenFirmware).
