If it boots up and works with extensions disabled ... it's as extension.
  I have a Power Logix 450 G4 and it's an unstable SOB.
IMHO,Overclocking is just spinning the cylinder (as in Russian roulette).

As Michael Macdonald has pointed out with his basic trouble shooting and
fixes post. This could be caused by more than one thing.

Do you have conflict catcher? In my estimation it's an essential Mac
Item on a PCP , made in 1997, souped up with a G3 or G4 board and
probably running a later OS designed for a much later and different machine.

Spend 45 minutes to 1-1/2 hours with Conflict Catcher andh find out who
the bad guys are. A lot of the print and Grapics shops i've seen have a
separate computers for various functions. In a lot of cases we are
asking our machines to wear too many hats. That's the reason for sets
... to configure the computer for one special operation or software.

Right now, my PTP with the @#$%^&!! Power logix board has been running
Norton Utilities for the last hour. I need to balance accounts, write
checks, pay taxes, etc., and this Mellon farmer has me dead in the water.

Don't think a new machine will solve all your problems. My eMac Apple
Works 6.2 has lost the path to it's dictionaries. nothing seems to work.
I have pulled down the assign dictionaries Word Tools and selected the
main dictionary and it still won't recognize it. Net blanking scape has
stopped spell checking also.

One problem follows another.
