I don't think that a stock PTP box would have the horsepower, but with a G3 or G4 card it would - not the the extent of a brand new Apple box, but very worthwhile. I presently have two 7600s with older G3 cards, 275 - 300 MHz range and a 9500 running OS X 10.1.5 and OS X 10.1.4 Server. My understanding was that anything based on the 7200 form would not be able to run OS X using XPostFacto, but that it was still being worked on. I haven't got an answer back from Sonnet yet, but according to their site if you run one of their G3/G4 cards using their OS X installer you can run it on most of the PowerComputing line, including the PowerCurve and PowerCenter which I have. I do plan on upgrading my 7600s to G4 and when I get the sonnet card I'll try it in the PowerCenter - and then I'll report back. > 2. Is OS X neat enough to make the venture worthwhile? I've used a Mac since they first came out - 16 hour days for a lot of it and usually on the bleeding edge, ie. new software, new OS, new crashes, new lost data... but as was mentioned by another on this list, once you get things figured out it seems to be stable. My only frustration so far has been the lack of drivers that will recognize external firewire devices under OS X and audio drivers for my Edirol DA-2496 which have been rumoured to be in development. OS X 10.0 was NOT good on pretty much anything, especially legacy Macs with upgrade cards. OS X 10.1.x made a big difference in speed, in fact making it possible to run what I would consider a reasonable computer even though a relatively slow CPU speed. OS X 10.2 is supposed to be improved over that, but I have to save up to re-purchase the OS software...
