Folks, I have an upgraded PowerCenter Pro 240 that apparently cannot use PCI firewire cards, even though this machine should recognize these just fine (according to manufacturers specs). Any suggestions/pointers would be most appreciated. TIA.
Upgraded to: Sonnet G3 500 512 MB RAM 18GB internal SCSI HD OS 9.1 I have used the OS 9.1 Firewire extensions, and have tried versions 2.4, 2.5, 2.7, 2.85 to no avail (Enabler and Firewire support). I have tried the following PCI cards in all three of my PCI slots (even moved the SCSI card around) in order to work with a newly acquired QPS 16104FEM Firewire external CD-RW : 1) OWC generic firewire Apple System Profiler says this is an unknown pci card. 2) OrangeMicro Firewire + USB 2.0 (recognizes USB 1.1 just fine with 1.4.6 driver) Apple System Profiler recognizes the USB (1.1) side just fine, and works with a USB mouse - however, the Firewire side is listed as a 4-port Ethernet card ?? The external QPS will read CD's at v e r y slow rates, but I cannot install the software because the device is not recognized. 3) Sonnet Tango Firewire + USB 1.1 (again, recognizes the USB just fine) This card is simply listed as pci card, unknown. The QPS reads at v e r y slow rates again, but again, I cannot install the needed software. Thanks again for any assistance! Ready to return yet *another* card.....
