Unless you've managed to find 256 MB sticks that work in the PTP, the maximum RAM is 1 GB, and not a byte more. Unless you're using the definition of gigabyte preferred by hard drive manufacturers. >Next step was going to be to install sonnet G4/800. But machine >is dead. Drives spin up but no video (none at all) and won't start or shut >down from the keyboard anymore. Logic board/ video board gone, or both? Did you press the Cuda button after putting in the RAM? IIRC, it's the little round button inside an ~1/4" square box at the bottom of the motherboard a few inches from the front. You should hold it down for about 4 seconds -- with the power off, of course! If you put in RAM as I do, without removing the lower drive cage, it's very tricky getting it in right. You have to (1) push it down on the side with the lever until you meet resistance, (2) push it all the way down on the other side, and (3) push at all the way down again on the side with the lever. Of course, you have to make sure it's lined up properly and should never have to apply more than moderate pressure. >Any reason the memory should do this, or just coincidence? Try starting up with one stick at a time, including the sticks you had originally. >Joel - Aaron -- Power Computing is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... 123Inkjets.com <http://lowendmac.com/ad/123inkjets.html> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Power Computing list info: <http://lowendmac.com/power/list.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> List archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/powercomputing%40mail.maclaunch.com/> --------------------------------------------------------------- >The Think Different Store http://www.ThinkDifferentStore.com ---------------------------------------------------------------
