Have you tried booting in Verbose mode? Or does the screen go blank even before it gets that far? Your display card should not be an issue. I have both a IMS TT M8 and an IMS ix3D and they have both worked in all version of X in my PTP. Granted they aren't accelerated but they do work. I would also go back and TRIPLE check you SCSI termination. X is VERY finicky with SCSI termination, much more so than 9 ever was.
