Have you tried booting in Verbose mode? Or does the screen go blank
even before it gets that far? Can you tell if it continues booting (do
you hear disk activity) or is it hung?

Your display card should not be an issue. I have both a IMS TT M8 and
an IMS ix3D and they have both worked in all version of X in my PTP.
Granted they aren't accelerated but they do work. I would also go back
and TRIPLE check you SCSI termination. X is VERY finicky with SCSI
termination, much more so than 9 ever was.
