I just installed a Acard Ahard 66 ATA card(PCI slot #3), and a Macally Firewire card(PCI slot #2) into my power tower pro. Then I installed a western digital 120 GB 7200 rpm drive. I formatted and partitioned the drive and everything went smoothly. I can copy from my scsi drives to the IDE drives, no problem. I then hooked up a 60 GB firewire drive(Que M3 60GB 7200rpm) to the firewire port. when I try to copy from the firewire drive to the IDE drive, a few files will transfer then the computer freezes up(mouse stops moving, clock stops). I have tried letting it sit for a few minutes thinking it might unfreeze or pull out of it, but it never does. I have tried transfering smaller files one at a time, and it still crashes.
I ran nortons utilities on the all the partitions and fixed any minor problems it found. I rebuilt the desktop of all the drives involved. then tried again, and it still freezes up. anyone have any ideas what might be causing this? I am currently running OS 9.1, as soon as I get the drives situation worked out, I am going to install 9.2.2 then onto OS X this is my computer system, power tower pro w/ sonnet G3 500mhz. 640 mb ram, two 2 GB SCSI drives. 120 GB western digital IDE drive. nothing plugged into external SCSI PCI slots 1 keyspan USB card -- no USB accessories plugged in 2. Macnally Firewire card --just Que M3 60GB 7200rpm 3. Acard Ahard 66 card -- 120 GB 7200 rpm western digital drive 4. 5. ATI video card 6.
