Gee, the above sounds complex. I click on the Apple menu and move my cursor to Eudora. Eudora opens then automatically takes care of connecting me to the web (via other software), checks and displays my mail with no further input from me, and I am automatically disconnected after a set time. No multi-step buttons to push - I have used one mouse click total. Therefore, I save space on my desk by using the smallest keyboard I could get, with no F keys. Oh, and I shut my control strip off too. I'm not trying to be a smart a__, but I have tried to tune my Mac OS 8.6 to be as friendly as can be and I am really pleased with the simplicity that is possible. I'm using FreePPP along with Eudora and they serve me well. I run other tasks via Apple Scripts on the Apple menu.
