Does the Epson manual/driver state that it'll run in 8.6 or does it require at least 9.x? I know 8.6 is the earliest system that'll recognize USB, but I had that problem with an HP printer. I had 8.6 and a USB card installed in my PowerTower, but the HP printer wouldn't work until I upgraded to 9 (I'm actually running 9.1). The manual/box specifically said the printer required 9.x.
