Fist of all, what version of Eudora are you using? I had the same problem until I updated to 5.2.1. Also, this seems to become more of a problem when the inbox gets very full. In th bottom left hand side of your inbox window should be three numbers separated by slashes. What does the second number show? Hold down the option key and click on this group of numbers to compact all your mailboxes. Every couple of months or so I create a new mailbox with a name like Inbox 11/14/03, select all the messages in my inbox, and transfer them to this new mailbox. This empties the Inbox and generally improves the performance of Eudora.

Finally, if you had esoteric settings installed, go to the "Really Miscellaneous" settings option and check faster typing.

By the way, re-installing or updating the Eudora application will not destroy your old messages unless you manually delete them. The installer actually has an option to upgrade an existing installation which keeps all the original mailboxes.

Regards,

Clive.

Here's a problem that is really beginning to drive me crazy... While typing into Eudora 5.1, the program can't keep up. Now, I am a graduate of the hunt and peck school of typing, so this problem is not caused by my lightning fingers.
