Note that the battery is typically covered by a plastic framed hood. You can get the hood off with your fingers, or if you need to, you can flip it out from the sides with a flat-edge screwdriver. Also, at the bottom of the battery compartment, is a raised imprint describing which way is positive and negative.
I would recommend that you don't take it to an Apple Repair Center to do it...they will probably charge you extra $$$ for the battery and then charge you a bench fee ($25 or so).
Be grateful you don't have an older machine (like an Amiga) which uses a SOLDER type barrel battery...

Hi. I have a PowerCenter Pro 180 (which my wife is presently using at work) which recently lost its ability to hold PRAM settings. I see from the technical specs that the machine uses a 3.6 V lithium battery. My question is: what's involved in changing it? My wife is bugging me to try to get the local Apple dealership to do it (which I am not at all confident that they would even be willing to do for a non-Apple brand machine) & I would like to know if I can tell her that I can do it.
