<<I am considering updating my PoweBase 180 with a :

Sonnet Technologies

400MHz G3 Upgrade with 1MB L2 Cache

for "Upgrade Challenged" Computers

This is versus buying a used IMAC.

Has anyone on the list have experience with this

upgrade? The price is $199. Is this reasonable?

I currently have system 8.1 installed with 64 meg RAM

and a MAXTOR 6GB HD, with a MacMagic Video Card

Thanks for any feedback>>

I recently bought a Newer PowrMax G3/400 daughter card with 1mb/200mHz
backside cache for $50 on the LEM swaplist for my PowerCenter 150. If your
PowerBase takes a daughter card upgrade, I think you could do *much* better than $199.
Of course an iMac will give you a 66mHz bus speed, while a daughter card
upgrade will maintain your PowerBase's 40mHz bus speed I would think.
