Sorry for shooting my mouth off without checking first. Correct, powerBase is considered 'upgrade challenged' and requires a L2 cache accelerator. G3-400 $189, G3-500 235. Use the 'product configurator' on http://www.sonnettech.com to get the right one.

Will the G4 work with a Power Base? I was told only the PowerTower Pros would work with the G4 chip.

I paid $300 for the same card several years ago. Get one off ebay or buy a new one from http://www.datamem.com , current 500Mhz G3 with 512 is $142. Otherwise if your motherboard is a good one, you could use the G4-800 for $330. G4-700 for $255
