I just ordered my first replacement fan, a single Panaflo high-volume fan, to stick my toe in the waters. While I wouldn't characterize my PowerTower (non-Pro) fans as excessively loud (certainly not as loud as my G4 dualie at work was before the Apple replacement power supply and fan was installed), they're not as blissfully silent as the flat-screen iMac. I'll be curious to see how much difference changing a single fan will make. But if the initial results are favorable, I might change out the fan in the PowerTower power supply, too. But while I've been up close and personal with just about every other major component system, I haven't removed and cracked open the power supply. What's involved? In these PowerComputer power supplies, are the fans soldered in? (I'm a pretty crude solderer.) Or do they use some sort of standard connectors? -- Chuck -- Power Computing is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... 123Inkjets.com <http://lowendmac.com/ad/123inkjets.html> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Power Computing list info: <http://lowendmac.com/power/list.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> List archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/powercomputing%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
