The most common source of this is the riser card. Its not the cables, but the cards or memory. Open the case, and remove all cards and memory. RESEAT everything and see if that cures it. Most likely it will. If not, pull all ram DIMMs except the largest one and see if you get a chime then. let us know how it goes.

today, I went to start the machine and it won't power/boot up. The power light comes on and I can hear the motor starting (so to speak), but there is no "bong" sound and the computer never fully powers up.
