The one that came with the computer has OS 7.5.3. The other I added and formatted using the FWB utility. What will happen on the new OS 9.1 if I don't have the hard disk drivers moved over to that disk? > Fourth, if the OS 9 installer CD shows up when booted in 7.5.3, using > the standard Apple CDROM driver, it won't require the third-party FWB > drivers, as it has been replaced by a unit with Apple ROM built in. > Let us know which CDROM (brand & model) you have, if possible. > PowerComputing used Teac 516s units in the high end models (16x > read), and these require third party drivers. > I'll check it out later but I think the CD-ROM requires FWB. The system came set up with FWB utulities. If I understand you correctly, I can boot with the current OS 7.5.3, which sees the CD, and then launch the OS 9 installer program from there. Then, when OS 9 is installed and I boot from that new OS I will not be able to see the CD unless I have a third party driver. Work is so busy and the snow is so deep I have had little time to play with this Mac clone. I am also trying to get a Linux server setup. Having a hard time keeping it all straight!
