Well, a couple of suggestions upgrading older Macs..
1. Get a 10/100 PCI Network Card. There is a NetGear Model you can get cheap (DFE 530TX+) that has Mac Drivers. That should make some difference. The Internal Network card is a 10 Megabit card.
2. For sure an upgraded Video Card will make a difference. Get a Radeon 7000 PCI card on eBay. They are a LITTLE more money than the ATI Rage 128 PCI from G3's. But, worth the extra money.
3. Instead of IE, use Opera or iCab. Both will be faster than IE. Only use IE when you must. Also, increase the Memory Allocation for IE to at LEAST 16mb.
4. Reduce the number of Fonts you use. Don't have loaded fonts you won't ever use. That will slow the system down.
