Sorry, my previous email may not have been relevant to your problem. As I understand it, the Icon showing up in the left side of the CHOOSER WINDOW is determined by the printer drivers in your system files. When you click on that Icon and it shows up as selected on the right side of the CHOOSER window, the computer is communicating with the printer. If you have a bad cable or in rare cases a bad printer port on your computer it would not show up, i.e., they aren't talking to each other ... however the problem could be with the printer. Hold down the Go Key and the Cancel key at the same time and print a test page. This will tell you if the Post Script is working and other facets of the printer configuration. Pushing the GO key by it's self prints a PostScript test page. If both of the test pages print with the correct information ... then you have a communication problem ... the printer SHOULD be OK.
I'm read up on all this as I'm having a problem getting a HP 6MP to communicate with my PCP 210/ G3 400 w/512 mb ram. So saying, I have been reading the HP service manual on this turkey very assiduously. I have also installed the latest HP S/W drivers for OS9.1. It's a bitch, here in the boonies, I don't have another printer cable to SUB and my cable tester is 1400 miles away from here.
