I just inherited a Power 120T, and this is my first exposure to the clones. Unfortunately, this is an unhappy machine, and will not start, chime, nothing. I have made sure all my connections are correct, the black power switch is on the "|" position, the power cord works, is plugged in, keyboard and monitor attached and plugged in, and no other peripherals. Push the button on the front of the tower, and nothing. Push the power button on the keyboard, and nothing. Not even a click. Just dead silence.
I suspect it's a bad power supply. Anyone know what type of power supply the 120T uses and how easy/worthwhile it is to try to replace it?
What I know about the system:
Zilch, since I haven't pulled it apart. It appears to have a ton of RAM on visual inspection.
The Power 120 is essentially a PowerMac 8100 (601cpu running @120 mHz) It has an interesting 'peltier cooler' on the cpu, and was second in stature only to the PowerMac 9100 series.
Keep an eye out for G3 upgrades for the processor direct slot, originally occupied by a second video card.
Read this recent message from listmember Al, as the Power 100 desktop and 120 tower use identical motherboards and power supplies.
Cheers...Michael
------------- Al Anyone interested in a Power 100 computer?
It's a 100mhz 601 with 64mb of RAM (I may have more), a 2gb SCSI Hard Drive and a CD-ROM Drive.
I have MacOS 8.6 on it now.
It's the desktop case version of the machine.
I have an ADB Keyboard and a Mouse to go with it.
It's in Philadelphia, PA, so I'd prefer it if someone wanted to come pick it up.
I'm keeping my PowerCenter 132, but I'd like to adopt this unit out into a good home... LOL!
