Ya know, that's a good point. I'm running Jag on my old XClaim GA. It's
8 Mb. Now I can't take advantage of Quartz processing (even though I'd
have to utilize a hack to do so), but it's fine for a hardware router.
:) :) (Jag will run using stock G3 video.)

Jag will run on 64MB of RAM too but that doesn't mean you don't "need"
more to be usable.

*shrugs* Well, I couldn't get my G3 to be solid with less than 256 RAM. Hillmanminx.com's "Do I Need More Memory" program confirmed that I was getting a lot of pageouts with less, and even still an annoying number of pageouts with 256. 312 Mb works just fine, though.

Running OS X of any flavor on les sthan 16MB of VRAM is pathetically
slow. Jag will run on 2MB of on-board VRAM as well as if not better
than an 8MB card.

If you use your beige G3 for a router why even use a monitor ? Why not
just access through the terminal ?

Well, in my case, the DSL connection can only be restarted through going to a web site. There's probably a way to do that through the terminal, but I'm not *that* much of a UNIX geek (and running Lynx doesn't appeal to me.) It's more trouble than it's worth. So, rather than use the built-in video, I just put the old technology I have hanging around to use.
