If you decide to go to the Beige G3, and want to transfer files without a lot of cost or fiddling about with screws etc., then place the PTP immediately beside the G3, disconnect the internal SCSI cable from the PTP motherboard, connect it to the internal SCSI port on the G3, and use the PTP as an 'external hard drive case' until you've loaded up essential files from the PTP.
