You shouldn't have to quit before backing up, but you must make sure that no automatic operations are being performed during the backup. I can't recall for certain, but I think the only automatic operation in PM is the periodic checking for new mail. Deselect that option and you should be fine to run your backup. Does PM have the option to "phone home", such as to check for updates? If so, that option would also need to be turned off. The key is to simply make sure that PM is standing still while being backed up. If so, all is well. ---Jay
