I don't have a problem reading mail while 'normal' messages are downloading, but messages with large attachments are troublesome. Once a week I'm emailed a gzipped backup of a MySQL db - it's normally around 600k - and always see the same behaviour: PM happily downloads in the background until the progress counter shows a few kb short of the total, then beachballs for a minute or more. After that, it carries on fine. I don't know how this compares with other mail clients? TimH
