What can be simpler and faster selecting all the text you want to use in the quote as you read it the first time? How can you offer your postediting as "more versatile"? It may seem simpler though, but anything that gets in the way of how different people think is not. Have you never experienced discontiguous selections or why do you slag it off? The idea with discontiguous selections are that it is faster to select only all that you need at once, than to remove what you don't want.
