page and read:

Sorry, I wasn't clear, let me try again:
What I want to be able to do is to progress through an open e-mail
message line by line using the down arrow key, not go through the folder
of messages using it.
I can use the down arrow key in this message as I type (up arrow as well)
but not on a received message; the only option there is to use the space
bar to move through the message page by page vs line by line.
