One more alternative is Ragtime SOLO, which is free for non-commercial
settings (one copy at a network at a time) <http://www.ragtime-
online.com>. I really like it, and it's available for Windows, Mac OS X
and Mac OS.
It opens and saves Office files, unfortunately without inline pictures.
Maclink may be able to help with that, if that's important, but I haven't
tried as I exchange PDF files.

I've so far used Appleworks 6, but I'm very tired on the limitations and bugs.

I'll probably standardize on Ragtime in my up and coming company, when
I'm ready with evaluation.
