One more alternative is Ragtime SOLO, which is free for non-commercial settings (one copy at a network at a time) <http://www.ragtime- online.com>. I really like it, and it's available for Windows, Mac OS X and Mac OS. It opens and saves Office files, unfortunately without inline pictures. Maclink may be able to help with that, if that's important, but I haven't tried as I exchange PDF files. I've so far used Appleworks 6, but I'm very tired on the limitations and bugs.
